The external source and external source id are not related in context as a signup channel stored against a user profile. External source id’s example: salesforce id or Azure id are captured in scenarios where we have external user identifiers for publishing data to marketing clouds and CDPs as per client request.
Apple and Facebook are signup channels. They are already populated as channel names in data exports if chosen. But we cannot populate their Apple id and Fb IDs as a part of it due to privacy constraints.
We populate this field in data exports only in cases of user data ingestion from external sources (as the name suggests) like SalesForce, mParticle, Braze, etc. into Punchh where they pass unique identifiers for those external sources to Punchh via API and not for signup via Facebook or apple as a channel.
