Whenever guests upgrade or change their mobile device, they would have to re-download the brand's app in their new device in order to continue using their loyalty account. Guests can sign in to their loyalty account once they have the brand's app installed in their new phone. At sign in, the app will ask for permission to receive push notifications, from which the guest would have to choose to either allow or deny the permission.
If a guest APPROVES the permission to receive push notifications on their new device, then future push notifications will be sent to the new device ONLY. Punchh can only send push notifications to one device per loyalty account. If guests change their mobile device, Punchh will send push notifications to the most recent device where the push notification permission was approved.
If a guest DENIES the permission to receive push notifications when the app is installed for the first time, Punchh will NOT be able to deliver push notifications to the new device, even if the guest manually enables the permission later in the app settings within iOS/Android. Push notifications would be sent to the previous device where the push notification permission was approved. In order to re-enable push notifications from the app in the new device, guests would have to uninstall and reinstall the app in the new device, sign in, and then approve the push notification permission when prompted.
The following will appear in the guests' timeline after they successfully log in to their loyalty account, depending on how many devices the guest has used previously to login to the account:
The guest timeline will indicate whether the guest approved or denied the permission to receive push notifications in their most recent device by showing:
- "We can send them a push notification on Android/iOS" - [Shown when push notification permission was approved]
- "We can send them a push notification on Unknown Device" - [Shown when push notification permission was denied]
