In general, when a "physical card" is used and stored within the APP, as part of the APP flow, the PIN is entered at the time the Gift Card is entered manually into the APP for storage and easy recall. As the Gift Card is stored within Punchh, that means this process was completed.
Since the Gift Card is failing, that means the value entered at that time was incorrect. Due to which you had to remove the card and provide a new gift card.
