This guide will help client in setting up the DS-9208 model scanner to work on their Brink POS scanner.
Prerequisites:
Install Zebra_CDC_ACM_Driver (Virtual COM port driver). In some cases, this may already be in the Brink Folder location in the C: Drive
Connect Symbol DS9208 Barcode Scanner to open USB port on terminal.
STEP 1 – Scan code below to restore default settings….
STEP 2 – Scan code below to set configuration….
STEP 3 – Set Static COM Port
STEP 4 – Open up Device Manager on Terminal (Right Click on Start menu > Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT) > Zebra CDC Scanner (COMx). Take note of what COM port that the Zebra CDC Scanner is assigned to and configure Settings Editor to same COM Port. Please note that below is an example and does not always use COM 7. Device Manager may show a different COM Port as it looks for the first available COM port to assign the scanner to.
NOTE: it is also worth mentioning that your client may need to obtain an .exe file from Brink for the DS-9208 scanner to work on the Brink POS system. If after following these steps the scanner still does not work, please have your client reach out to Brink for this file. As of Nov '20 this file was called something similar to Zebra_CDC_ACM_Driver_(x86)_v2.15.0004.exe.
