Segments are one of the most important parts of a campaign because these are the tools used in order to target specific guests. At times you may use a complex segment to specifically target guests, for example:
- Guests who have signed up in the last 30 days
- Guest who haven't checked in the last 30 days
Using the AND operator to combine these into a complex segment means the guests must fall into both complex parts in order for them to be included in the main segment. The more complex parts that are used with the AND operator, the smaller your overall segment will be.
- Bob signed up 80 days ago and checked In 18 days ago
- Bob falls into the 2nd complex part but not the 1st
- Bob will not fall into the main segment
- Bob falls into the 2nd complex part but not the 1st
- Jane signed up 22 days ago and checked in 3 days ago
- Jane falls into both complex parts
- Jane will fall into the main segment
- Jane falls into both complex parts
An additional example, we want to target guests who order pepperoni & mushrooms on their pizza
- Bob orders mushrooms but not pepperoni on his pizza
- Bob falls into the 2nd complex part but not the 1st
- Bob will not fall into the main segment
- Bob falls into the 2nd complex part but not the 1st
- Jane orders pepperoni & mushrooms on her pizza
- Jane falls into both complex parts
- Jane will fall into the main segment
- Jane falls into both complex parts
