Step 1 – What
- Enter a name for your campaign in the Name field.
- Click the Browse button under the Punchh thumbnail to upload a preview image for your coupon.
This image is internal-only.
This message is internal-only. The guest will not see it.
In the Description field, add a short message describing the type/purpose of this coupon campaign. - Click Next to move on to Step 2.
Step 2 – Whom
-
Under the Code can be used in heading, choose whether you want your coupon to be unlockable from within the mobile app (guests will enter the code into their app in order to receive the offer) or if the guest must bring the code to a location where it must be entered manually by a cashier into the POS at the time of purchase.
Choosing Directly processed at POS prohibits you from sending the code by notification or by email but opens up some additional options:
... - Choose whether you want your coupon codes to be automatically generated whenever a guest opens their email/push notification or whether the coupon code(s) should be pre-generated.
Typically, generic codes should be pre-generated, and dynamic codes should be under dynamic generation. Dynamic is highly recommended for larger customer segments. Otherwise, if a large amount of codes are pre-generated, not only will the majority of them never be used and are therefore unnecessary, there may be a delay while they are processing.
Dynamic codes can only be used via email campaigns. So any codes sent by email should be set as dynamic. By generating a unique code for each guest, we can then track the exact guests who redeem those codes. Once you save and finish creating your dynamic coupon campaign, a Dynamic Generation Token and Dynamic Generation URL will be created for you to embed in your email messages. - Choose the limit for the Number of guests who (if using a dynamic code) can redeem the coupon code or (if using pre-generated code) the total number of coupon codes that will be generated.
If you are using a segment with your campaign, this guest count limit will supersede the number of guests in your segment, meaning that is your segment has 500 users but the number of guests is set to 50, the only the first 50 guests who redeem the offer will have access.
For dynamic codes, you can set this value to 0, which means that an unlimited number of codes will be generated as guests open their emails. Do not use commas in the number value.
For pre-generated codes, you must specify a value of 1 or more. Do not use commas in the number value, else it will be regarded as a decimal point. For example, 10,000 will be received as 10 coupons. Instead, use "10000" without commas. - In the Use(s) Per Guest field, choose the amount of times the same customer can redeem a coupon code.
- Campaign Based Throttling sets a limit on how many coupons from this specific campaign may be redeemed by a single guest. This prevents one guest stacking up many coupons on a single account (regardless of how many they're allowed to use).
- If you set Use(s) Per Guest (above) at more than 1, you can then set how often a guest may redeem another coupon code. Click the Usage Throttling drop-down to choose the amount of time that must pass before a guest can redeem another code.
-
Your Gift Type options are dependent on whether your coupon codes can be activated in the mobile app or must be processed at the POS.
-
For Unlock rewards on Mobile App; choose from Gift Points or Gift Redeemable.
... -
For Directly processed at the POS; choose from $ OFF or % OFF.
......
-
- In the Gift Reason field, add a short message describing the type/purpose of this gift-giving campaign.
This description will be visible to guests in the Account History section of their app. - If you are using dynamically-generated codes, you can enter a value in the Expiry Days field to set the number of days a coupon remains valid after it has been generated. This expiration date ignores any End Date you may have set for the campaign.
This expiration countdown begins as soon as the coupon has been generated by the guest. -
If you are using pre-generated coupon codes, you can select to send a user messaging after they have used one of the codes from your pre-generated list.
...
...
Dynamic Generation messaging occurs before redemption via messaging you select in a Mass Notification campaign, Pre-Generated Messaging occurs after redemption via the messaging you select here.
Dynamically generated codes must be paired with a mass notification email campaign in order for their dynamic link to activate upon a user opening the message, and the accompanying message could be like "Please use this coupon". However, because pre-generated coupon messaging is triggered after a coupon has been redeemed, in this case, the message could be "Thank you for using this coupon."...
- Once finished crafting your messaging, click Next to move on to Step 3.
Step 3 – When
- Select a Start Date and End Date for your campaign.
- Use the Timezone drop-down to select the most appropriate timezone for scheduling.
- Once you've finished with scheduling, click Finish to begin your coupon campaign and/or begin generating coupons.
Dynamic Generation Token and URL
Once you save and finish creating your dynamic coupon campaign, a Dynamic Generation Token and Dynamic Generation URL will be created for you to embed in your email messages if you are using a third-party email service provider such as Mailchimp, etc.
You don't have to use these directly if you are using Punchh to send out email via mass notification campaigns. In that case, you'll only need to use dynamic tags such as {{{coupon_code}}}.
Exporting / Reviewing Codes
