If a guest Timeline shows a Failed POS Lookup and the error code is 181 as below, this means that there was an issue with the guest being able to check-in via the scanned barcode. Punchh will retry this check-in if the checksum is valid. This error is generally caused when a guest attempts to scan a barcode for a receipt that Punchh has not yet received.
You can verify if Punchh has or has not received the barcode by heading to Support > Barcode Lookup and searching for the barcode. If you see the error below, Punchh has not received the receipt but Punchh has verified that the checksum is valid and therefore the check-in will be retried.
