If you are looking up a redemption code in the platform and you see a status of "not assigned yet" this means that the redemption code was created during an API call query but never assigned to a specific check or transaction.
This happens generally in businesses that are configured to "points unlock staged redeemables" because the guest has a choice of which redeemable they want to unlock at a certain point threshold. If they attempt to unlock a redeemable in an online order, for example, but the check doesn't qualify, a redemption code will be created, but it will show as "not assigned yet".
